Kariya Mando Festival is a festival of Akibasha located in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, praying for fire retirement and safety in town. It is a festival that has lasted more than 230 years to date, and will be held on the last Saturday and Sunday of July for 2 days each year. ‘Mando’ vividly coloured the puppet dolls are made of bamboo and Japanese paper, and in many cases are modelled on Kabuki paintings and warriors. The big ones are about 5 meters high and weigh about 60 kilograms, to which the young people will dance to the accompaniment of a flute and drum.
